The 2001 thru 2006 Acura MDX is a great 7-passenger SUV. They are well-engineered, safe, and very reliable.
We originally acquired this particular 2005 Acura MDX from Amercian Honda Lease Trust, in the State of Florida, when it came off lease in March of 2009. At that time, it had 61,000 miles on the odometer.
One major advantage of acquiring this vehicle from us is the extensive service logs that we have, in maintaining this MDX for the previous owner. We have hard copies of the majority of the service and repairs performed on this 2005 MDX, since 2009. The service file is approx. 2 inches thick and illustrates the dedication the previous owner had in maintaining this SUV. Want to know when and at what mileage a particular maintenance process was performed? - we simply look in the service file. One example: The last timing belt replacement was December 2017 @ 201,681 miles. Recently, the previous owner traded this vehicle back into our used car inventory, for a 2016 Acura RDX. Consistent with our business model - in preparing this 2005 Acura MDX for marketing; we still fully inspected, serviced and detailed it. This 2005 Acura MDX is complete, reliable, clean and ready to go.
The original transmission had a 'hairline' crack in the case housing at the fluid drain hole. This very small crack stayed wet with transmission fluid all the time. For this reason, we installed a replacement automatic transmission unit, that has been remanufactured by H&A Transmissions - the premier supplier of Honda and Acura transmission units, out of Rancho, California. At that same time, we installed a new radiator. So, the new radiator coupled with the new auxiliary fluid cooler that comes with the new transmissions from H&A; will keep the engine, and the transmission protected from high operating temps on those soon-to-be hot summer road trips.
In preparation to market this 2005 Acura MDX we also installed several new suspension parts to restore the quality ride that these MDX units are known for having We installed new front strut / spring assemblies, new front sway bar links and new rear shocks. We also installed a new set of hood struts and a new set of rear hatch struts. New rocker cover gaskets were installed on both bank 1 and bank 2 of the engine.
We performed our 3-stage process on the exterior finish of this entire vehicle. These 3 steps were: first stage, using a 3M cutting compound and buffer with the yellow (coarse) buffing pad - to cut the oxidization and contaminants off the surface. The second stage was applying 3M polish compound, using a buffer with the black (fine cut) pad. The third stage was application of a premium car wax to protect the surface. This is one major reason why this 20-year-old MDX finish has a deep-luster to it. In addition, we refinished the front half of the roof - in front of the sunroof panel, and the exterior mirrors. We also installed a new genuine factory replacement front bumper. In all refinishing, we utilized premium quality PPG automotive paint and clear coat products.
In 2001 thru 2006, Acura MDX units were one of two trim levels - Base or Touring. This is a Touring model. The Touring models could be easily identified by the factory roof rack. This Touring model also has navigation which means it also has a back-up camera that activates when the driver shifts the vehicle into reverse.
This navigation feature is supplied by an onboard DVD driver and requires no subscription.
Put the vehicle in reverse and the moving map screen changes to a rear view that is supplied by a camera that is mounted to the rear hatch, just above the license plate.
